Q Pickavers ICZM Indicator Question In light of
poor answer to Q. i.e. NO as answer to Question
R What is EGCPs (local level response)
Opportunity or Potential Role in ICZM in what
way?
13Results and Conclusions
- Q Spatial planning of sea areas is required by
law. - Q A comprehensive set of coastal and marine
indicators is being used to assess progress
towards a more sustainable situation.
Lobbying, try to show importance to local
authority
This isnt done on local level. This indicator
set is a small first step. This could be a long
term EGCP goal.
14Results and Conclusions
- Q A report on the State of the Coast has been
written with the intention of repeating the
exercise every five or ten years. - Q A non-statutory integrated coastal zone
strategy has been drawn up and an action plan is
being implemented. - Q Statutory development plans span the interface
between land and sea.
There is one written for the seas. EGCP could try
and make a local State of the Coast. Which
later on could be fed in a regional one.
EGCP could be able to do this
EGCP could play a role in facilitating this.
15Results and Conclusions
- Q There is routine (rather then occasional)
cooperation across coastal and marine boundaries. - Q End users have access to as much information
of sufficient quality as they need to make
timely, coherent and well crafted decisions.
EGCP is working to develop this.
EGCP could try an set up an information system
with information about the region.
