  • Progress for Q1 and Q2
  • A total of 7,500,000 events were simulated,
    reconstructed and analysed for Higgs decay
    studies a significant fraction of this work made
    use of our TeraGrid allocation. We used the TG
    clusters at Caltech and NCSA, a total of 120,000
    SUs
  • 40,000 Graviton background study events generated
    on TG (10 CPU hours per event)
  • PYTHIA (event generator) and CMSIM (Monte Carlo)
    codes were successfully ported to IA64.
  • 2,000,000 events generated on TG for Higgs QCD
    background study
  • Work on Grid Analysis continued with the goal of
    providing HEP client access to TeraGrid generated
    events
  • Demonstrated analysis of remote datasets at
    SuperComputing 2003
  • Tested FAST kernels on IA64

  • We are frustrated by the fragility of the TG. It
    seems to be properly operational only 50-60 of
    the time. Limits ability to use allocation.
    Causes long queues. Security shutdowns have
    severely affected our plans recently. The
    following milestones reflect this uncertainty.

  • Use new and old generators to produce events for
    Higgs and radion searches at a realistic 100,000
    to 150,000 SUs per month on the TeraGrid
  • Deploy Clarens (clarens.sourceforge.net) as a
    Grid-based physics analysis Portal on the Caltech
    TG
  • Deploy FAST at other TG sites, in collaboration
    with TG network WG, and make tests
  • Q4
  • Continue event generation to saturate
    allocated/available TeraGrid capacity.
  • Deploy Clarens portals at all TG sites
  • Work towards ubiquitous deployment on FAST on TG
