3What is CUAbroad?
- CUAbroad is the education abroad unit of the
Center for Global Education at CUA. Provides a
wide array of education abroad opportunities for

5Semester Abroad Overview
- Earn up to 18 credits per semester
- Must have a 2.8 GPA or higher and completed 45
credits, and be a full-time degree-seeking
student at the time of application - A 3.5 GPA is required undergraduates to
participate in the Oxford Honors Program,
graduate students need a 3.8 - Classes taught in both English
- and host country language
- Wide variety of subjects offered
- Open to most majors
6Semester and Year-long Programs
These programs are based upon affiliation
agreements with a host institution whereby CUA
students can study on the host institutions
overseas program for a semester and transfer back
resident credits to CUA

7The Oxford Honors Program
- Fall semesters only, beginning Fall 2009
- Take 3 tutorials, totaling in 15 credits for
Undergraduates and 9 credits for Graduate
students - Students will be reading, researching and writing
when they are not meeting with their tutor - Students will live in Oxford student housing
(single rooms, shared kitchen, lounge
bathrooms) - Attend an Oxford Honors Information
- Session, each Monday at 12pm and
- each Friday at 2pm
8CUA in Rome
Fall and Spring semesters Use of CUAs own
facilities library, common room, computer
lab Includes various excursions, including
Tuscany and Bay of Naples No prior knowledge of
Italian required
- The Liberal Arts track
- Students live in University dormitories
- Students take one Italian course with Italia Idea
- And take 4 additional liberal arts courses
- The Italian Immersion
- Students live with Italian Host families
- Students take two Italian Courses with Italia
Idea - And take 3 additional liberal arts courses
9International Internships
Gain professional experience in your field with
an internship abroad. Earn course credits and add
an international component to your resume!
- Brussels, Belgium
- Fall or Spring Terms
- Internship in European Studies up to 5
additional academic courses, while living in
Leuven - London, England
- Spring or Summer terms
- Internship in Parliament optional additional
courses - Dublin, Ireland
- Fall or Spring terms
- Internship in Parliament 3 additional courses
through the Institute of Public Administration

summer breaks and earn academic credits while
exploring the world!
Short-Term Programs
- Led by CUA Faculty - for CUA credit
- Locations courses vary (Mexico, Rome, Berlin)
- Study abroad during the summer or spring breaks
for one to six weeks - Stay with host families or in student housing
- Open to all undergraduate and graduate students
- Must have at least a 2.5 GPA to obtain credit
(may be taken for audit)

Non-CUA Programs
- Research and select programs by accredited
institutions - Make an appointment with CUAbroad to review
application procedures - Consult with your Academic Advisor about degree
requirements - Apply directly to your program of interest
- Consult with Financial Aid to fill out required
paperwork - Complete CUAbroad online application and submit
all supplementary materials, including the
administrative fee
12Financing Education Abroad
- CUA students pay tuition, plus a program fee to
cover program-related costs (you do not pay
housing costs to CUA) - Federal loans and aid appliesto CUA programs
(except work-study) - Only federal aid applies to non-CUA program
(work with the office of Financial Aid) - Cost Breakdown sheets for affiliated programs are
available at CUAbroad

14Application Process
- Check application deadlines apply early
- Complete an online CUAbroad Application
- Submit all supplementary materials at once
Application fee, official transcript, letters of
recommendation, a personal statement, course
approval, copy of your passport, passport size
photos, and any additional information for the
specific program. KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING - Assure your current health insurance will cover
you while you are overseas - There will be a disciplinary check with CUAs
