What is the NGN-Initiative ?
(NGN-I)

• A consortium of representatives from leading
  industries, operators and academia
• The first European open environment for strategic
  discussions on topics issues of NGN.
• A Project of the IST programme

Methodology

• Setting up of Topic Working Groups (TWG) on
  specific areas
• Provide input to Benchmarking Reports and

• Achieve understanding/ consensus/ co-ordination
  on standards contributions
• Hold /attend workshops, conferences, cluster
  meetings

Funding

• Being an IST project, funding is available for 2
  years for infrastructure and logistics.
• Contributing Members (in EU Countries) get paid
  for certain work done.
• General Members free for 2 years
• Sponsoring Members Anticipated Fee Euro 1500
  p.a.
• After 2 years NGN-I is expected to be run through
  membership contributions
