  Technology and Health Information Exchange that

  stakeholders to reduce healthcare costs, improve
  patient safety, and improve the quality and

HIE Planning Implementation

• Arizona submitted letter of intent to Office of
  National Coordinator (ONC) on September 11th
• Specified partnership with AzHeC
• State HIT Coordinator to be named
• ONC now to make allocations to states
• 564 million available for distribution (4 and
  40 per award)
• Full applications due October 16th
• Awards made mid-December

HIT Regional Extension Centers

• General program information
• Applicants must be US-based non-profit
• Provision of education, technical and change
  management assistance to providers
• Prioritized assistance to 4 groups of primary
  care providers
• Funding announcement released August 20th
• 3 proposal/award cycles throughout FFY2010
• 1st cycle preliminary application due September
  8th, full proposal (if requested) due November
  3rd
• 598 million allocated, approximately 70 awards
  total
• Preference given to multi-stakeholder
  collaborations
