Points, Lines, Planes
  • Point- has no dimension. It usually is
represented by a small dot. In this case it is
    used for mapping.
  • Line-extends in one dimension. Represented by a
straight line with two arrowheads to indicate
that the line extends with out end in two
directions. In this case its used for Power
    lines.
  • Plane-extends in two dimensions. It usually is
represented by a shape that looks like a tabletop
or wall, it extends with out end. In this case
the plane is the roof top.

Points, Lines, Planes cont
  • Segment- a segment is a line with two end points
    in this case is a
  • Intersecting lines- two lines that cross through
each other In this case it is used as two
    crossing roads.
  • Perpendicular lines- two lines that intersect
creating a right angle. In this case it is used
    for a wrench.

Angles
  • Angle- two different rays with the same initial
    point
  • Acute Angle- an angle with the measure less than
    90Obtuse
  • Angle- an angle with the measure more than 90

9
Polygons
  • Triangle- a figure formed by three segments
    joining three non-collinear points, called
    vertices.
  • Rectangle-a parallelogram with four right angles
  • Right Triangle- a triangle with one right angle
  • Square- a parallelogram with four congruent sides
    and four right angles

Circles
  • Circle-The set of all points in a plain that are
    equidistant from a given point
  • Diameter-A chord that passes through the center
    of the circle.
  • Tangent line-a line that intersects a circle in
    exactly one point.

Solid Terms
  • Pyramid-a polyhedron in which the base is a
polygon and the lateral faces are triangles with
    a common vertex.
  • Cylinder-a solid with congruent circular bases
that lie in in a parallel planes.
  • Sphere- The locus of points in space that are a
given distance from a point called the center of
    the sphere.
