Introduction
New Bologna Master at CDM MTE Start Fall 2010
Program Structure Combination of complementary
sets of teaching offerings (120 ECTS)
Goals 1) World-class quality 2) EPFL as THE
address in Europe for Bachelors with a
tech/science degree to augment their
knowledge and capabilities in management

A rigorous process with feedback from the
Direction, Dean and Faculty
Radical baseline reflection
Benchmarking with the best of the field
(Stanford, MIT, etc.)
Defining the basic building blocks, proportions
etc.
Identifying key courses for each block (Common
set, Specialization, Electives), taking into
account their specific contributing to the whole
Check of the delta between 2009 and 2010
Check of internal teaching capabilities, with
external and internal quality check (research
inputs and students evaluations)
Course content outline a three-bullet point
outline for each course check with main
teaching stakeholders
Definition of the course sequence with credit
balance check

to develop solid quantitative methodological
competences, anchored in robust
technological/natural-science Bachelor knowledge
to develop substantial strengths and depths in
conceptual and analytical foundations in the
respective specialization areas
