Aims of the Project

• Transposition of the Air Quality Framework
  Directive 96/62/EC and the Large Combustion
  Plants Directive 2001/80/EC into Turkish (Draft)
  legislation
• Draft Agreed Framework Law on Air Quality which
  defines the Roles and the Responsibilities of the
  involved ministries (considering both directives)

• Strengthening of the qualification of the
  administration and of the technical structures in
  the administration (Know How Transfer)
  Strengthening of the Quality management and
  preparation of the accreditation of the two
  laboratories - Refik Saydam Hygienic Center
  (RSHC) and Gölbasi
• Agreed strategic Action Plans on further
  implementation steps of the two directives

Some Statistics

• Over 40 experts who will work in the fields of
  emission, emission inventory, emission
  monitoring, air quality, quality management,
  technical equipment, environmental law will
  assist in this project
• These experts will spend over 1100 days
• in Turkey
• 6 Workpackages with 21 acivities where most of
  the activities are concerned with more than one
  issue
