SUMMER 2007 PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NORTH
WEST FOR PHARMACY UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Where are we? NHS North West stretches
from the Northern Lakes to the Cheshire Plain and
from the Irish Sea to the Pennines. It comprises
Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and
Greater Manchester. Whats available? Most North
West Trusts offer summer vacation placements, to
provide work experience in hospital pharmacy to
Pharmacy Undergraduates. Placements will normally
be for between four and six weeks and many are
paid, although salaries may vary from Trust to
Trust and some placements are not paid. How to
apply? If you are interested in a particular
hospital you should make enquiries directly to
the Hospital Pharmacy Department. What to
include with your application? When applying to
hospitals you should send a CV and covering
letter, unless they provide their own
documentation. It is useful to indicate dates
when you are available as some Trusts offer a
number of placements over the summer. Make sure
you give a current contact address, email address
and telephone numbers. It is also useful to
provide information of any work experience that
you may have undertaken previously in pharmacy or
otherwise. The closing date for applications in
the North West is 31st January 2007.
