Purpose To develop, species specific biological
sampling priorities, utilizing a priority matrix
based on select criteria and establish sampling
targets.
- Identify the holes in data collection.
- Fund projects accordingly.
4FISHERY DEPENDENT BIOLOGICAL SAMPLING
Trip identifier, species, specimen number, length
measurements, length type, weight, hard parts,
gender, gonads, tissue samples, stomach contents.

8Activities/Needs
- Staff will bring to the attention of the
Operations Committee the need for completing the
Bio Target System.
- Conduct a survey of partners to determine where
overlaps in sampling are occurring.
- Develop a more explicit set of directions for
partners when requesting species recommendations.
- Continue to refine the priority matrix
specifically with regards to prioritization
criteria as better information on stocks becomes
available.
9Future goals (Potential funding priorities)
- Complete Bio Target system.
- Continue to work and refine SAFIS.
- Complete the development of data feeds from TIP
and the NE biological sampling program.
- Establish a directory of sampling resources (i.e
number of port agents, creel clerks etc.) for
each state.
