ACCSP Biological Review Panel
Purpose To develop, species specific biological
sampling priorities, utilizing a priority matrix
based on select criteria and establish sampling
targets.
  • Adequacy of Sampling.
  • Identify the holes in data collection.
  • Fund projects accordingly.

measurements, length type, weight, hard parts,
gender, gonads, tissue samples, stomach contents.

Activities/Needs
  • Staff will bring to the attention of the
Operations Committee the need for completing the
    Bio Target System.
  • Conduct a survey of partners to determine where
    overlaps in sampling are occurring.
  • Develop a more explicit set of directions for
    partners when requesting species recommendations.
  • Continue to refine the priority matrix
    specifically with regards to prioritization
criteria as better information on stocks becomes
    available.

9
Future goals (Potential funding priorities)
  • Complete Bio Target system.
  • Continue to work and refine SAFIS.
  • Complete the development of data feeds from TIP
and the NE biological sampling program.
  • Establish a directory of sampling resources (i.e
number of port agents, creel clerks etc.) for
    each state.
