the Working for Water programme?
- 50/50 Partnership Landowner and Gov. Agencies
- Landowner is responsible for the management,
equipment, bridging finance, transport and
support - WfW is responsible for the herbicide, cost of
labour, waterworks program and survey - Dept. Agriculture facilitates as well as
agreement, quality control and linking to
LandCare funds and vision. - Municipality lists project in IDP, co funds and
could be the agent for WfW

- To effectively address many natural resource
- issues such as degradation of soil by water and
- wind erosion, pollution of drinking water
supplies, - invader plant infestation, pest and disease
- infestations, planning must be conducted at a
scale - larger than an individual farm or ranch.
- Strategy for larger scale planning in which local
people identify concerns was adopted by
Department of Agriculture - Using the IDP as the vehicle

- Areawide Conservation Planning is a comprehensive
problem solving process that integrates social,
economic and ecological concerns over defined
geographical areas. - Natural resource management approach that
integrates locally driven initiatives. - Big picture
- Provides local people the process to assess their
natural resourse concerns and determine what
conditions they desire and formulate alternatives
to achieve their goals. - Process is led by people in the community

effectively,therefore poor piecemeal service
delivery,which means less poverty relief - Communities must buy-in and set the priorities
and implement the projects. They add great value

- Let us join hands and form real partnerships at
ground level - Somehow try and get rid of the mishoop
bureaucratic processes we work under- this
academy of learning can help - Respect the people we serve and listen to them,
the key to improvement lies in their ideas.
