Frankie Thomas Library
  • Collins-Riverside
  • Middle School

2
Rules of the Library
  • Students will conduct themselves as they would in
any classroom. Talk quietly. Do not talk
unnecessarily. Ask questions if you need help.
  • When browsing, do not re-shelve books. Place
books in the return box at the circulation
    counter.
  • Students should not enter library offices or go
    behind the circulation desk.

3
Materials Check Out
  • Students may check out two books for two-week
loan periods. The due date will be stamped in
the back of the book. Books may be renewed only
    once.
  • Encyclopedias and other reference books may not
be checked out because they are too expensive to
    replace.
  • Magazines are to be checked out for one-day loan
periods. Only one magazine may be checked out at
    a time.
  • Students with two items checked out will not be
allowed to check out anything else until other
    materials are returned.
  • Students may not check out for other students.

4
Fines and Overdues
  • You will owe a fine of ten cents per day for each
    book that is overdue.
  • Fines for overdue magazines are ten cents per
    day.
  • Students who owe a fine will not be allowed to
check out or renew books until all fines are
    paid.
  • Overdue and fine notices will be sent to students
the first Monday of each month. English teachers
will receive an overdue list on each Monday
    thereafter.
  • If you think an error has occurred, please see
Mrs. Windle or Mrs. Taylor immediately.

5
Overdue book and fine notices
  • Students will receive overdue book and fine
notices throughout the year during English
    classes.
  • Pay close attention to the heading on the notice.
  • When students owe fines, the names of books that
were overdue will be listed. This does NOT mean
that you still have the book. You merely owe a
    fine for this book.
  • When students have overdue books, the fine is
listed for books that will be turned in the day
the notice was given. If the book is not turned
in that day, the fine will continue to grow 10
cents per day until it is turned in.

6

by the end of the semester.

  • If you need a Xerox copy or a computer print out,
there is a small charge of ten cents per page to
pay for printer supplies and paper.
  • Before making a computer print out, please tell
a library worker. This will ensure that your
    copy will be made.
  • Print preview before printing.
