Why the new changes and alignment?
The alignment Version 1.0 - 1.01 represents the
results of discussions by the Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO). The reason for the
alignment are
  • To achieve alignment of common national
    performance measures
  • To share one set of documents
  • To minimize data collection efforts for these
    common measures
  • To focus efforts on the use of data to improve
    the health care delivery process
