2Background
- Department of Health made a commitment to
improving access to appropriate information in
the white paper Our health, our care, our say. - IW Council and partners are one of 20 sites
piloting this project. - From 2008, Information Prescriptions will be
given to everyone with a long term condition.
3Information Prescriptions
- Information plays a vital role in giving people
more control over their health and well-being. - Information Prescriptions ensure that people have
far greater access to and receive the right
information when they need it most. - Information Prescriptions need to be available in
a variety of formats e.g. web-sites, DVD, paper
based, audio tape.
4What should they contain?
- Information Prescriptions should contain a series
of links or signposts to guide people to sources
of information about their health and social
care. - Information Prescriptions should let people know
where to get advice, where to get support, and
where to network with others.
