6Thread the rope system through the bottom three
rungs. You should begin and end behind the
ladder.Threading the rope through the rungs will
act as a friction brake when lowering the
Firefighter.
7- Ascend the ladder carrying the rope system behind
the ladder. - Hint Carry the 1 Carbineer up the ladder first.
8Elevated anchor
Start with a piece of webbing behind the top of
the ladder above the egress point. With the
webbing centered behind the ladder, wrap each end
around the beam of the ladder going through the
same opening between the rungs.
For Demonstration purposes, these photos were
taken from ground level.
9- Connect the rope system to the webbing via the 1
carabineer also connected to the figure eight. - The 2 carabineer will hang down this will be
your working end. Provide additional line to the
rope to lower 2 carabineer to the egress point. - Connect the 2 carabineer to the Firefighter to
be rescued.

10Rescue Operation
- Hook the 2 carabineer through both shoulder
straps at the top of the SCBA. - To help keep the Firefighter from sliding out of
his SCBA, disconnect the waist strap and
reconnect it between the legs. - You may also connect the carabineer to a
Firefighters personal rescue harness if
applicable.
11Raising
- To raise a Firefighter, one person should grab
the rope threaded through the rungs on the inside
of the ladder pulling down. - A second Firefighter should have control of the
rope threaded through the rungs at the bottom, to
act as a safety.
12Lowering
To lower a person, two Firefighters should grab
the rope threaded through the rungs at the bottom
of the ladder. Lower the Firefighter in a
controlled manner.
