Ostuni, better known in the world as the White
town, is situated in Puglia, the heel of Italy.
It is one of the most beautiful towns of
Southern Italy. The nearest large town is
Brindisi and other major cities such as Bari,
Lecce, Taranto, Martina Franca, Alberobello,
Locorotondo, are also in its proximity.

THE OLD TOWN The historical center of Ostuni is
one of the most beautiful in Italy and it is
known all over the world for its most original
architecture. Its particular geographic position
has allowed, better or worse, of being the
strategic objective of many people who have
invaded and dominated the city leaving the mark
of their passage in the course of the centuries.
From a certain distance the "Earth", so is also
called the fortified city, appears uniform in its
geometric lines, giving the impression of a cone
mounted among the hills on which insists the
entire city.

The angevin walls

The old part of the town is characterized by
little white houses, narrow streets, arches,
steps and stairs through which people can admire
the blue Adriatic Sea meeting the blue sky.

The apparently untidy piling up of the rooms, has
given to the old city, the conformation of a real
maze, but in which is pleasant pretending to get
lost. For its conformation, in the "Earth" is
impossible to lose completely the guideline. In
fact, if you go up, you reach the top of the hill
where the Cathedral rises.

Liberty Square, whose symbol is the column of
SantOronzo, protector of the city with San
Biagio, belongs to the historical center. The
Obelisk was erected in 1771, with the money of
the ostunesi, to thank the protector that once
again averted an epidemic. The statue of the
Saint, with its approximately 21 meters height,
seems turned to bless the historical center.

The cavalcade of Sant' Oronzo is the more waited
for and important festivity of Ostuni. Every year
25, 26 and 27 of August, are days dedicated to
the Saint a procession of horses and knights
saddled for festivity, parades for the city ways
to guard the citys Patron.

The countryside Ostuni is extended on seven hills
and surrounded by a rural landscape with red
land, olive trees and the particular and typical
rural houses called trulli.

The beaches The coast of Ostuni is only a few
Kilometres away from the White Town. You can
enjoy beautiful beaches, with golden sand,
crystal water and typical mediterranean bushes

The remains of an ancient age
Delia is the name of the woman, died
approximately 25.000 years ago, whose skeleton
with the one of the child who carried in her
womb, has been discovered in the cave of S. Maria
d' Agnano, near Ostuni
