Current Work Items
  • Centralized database of reroutes (deployed May
    2000)
  • A list of current national reroutes will be shown
    on the DataGate.
  • A list of current reroutes will be appended to
the end of every advisory concerning reroutes.
  • RVR
  • Data should be available from 31 TRACONs.
  • The airlines will see the same data that the
    controllers see.
  • After internal review, a requirements document
will be reviewed with the airlines.
  • RVR data cannot be acquired by Volpe until ETMS
    gets its bandwidth increase.
  • CTAS data from DFW (Summer 2000)

3
Current Work Items (continued)
  • SMA/Arts Data from Dallas, Chicago, and New York
    (December 2000)
  • Data will be sent in the current SMA format,
which can be read by the Metron display tool.
  • Data will also be available in the TZ format used
in the ASDI feed. An ICD will be available from
    Volpe in a few days.
  • Arrival/Departure trade-off tool.
  • First step is to use St. Louis as a case study to
confirm that this tool can increase throughput.
  • Eugene Gilbo will meet with TWA and FAA in St.
    Louis on December 17.
  • If the first step is successful, the next step is
    to write an operational concept.
  • Metron will implement this tool on FSM.

6
How Weather Products Will be Made Available on
the Volpe Web Site
  • A link on the DataGate will send the user to the
site at the AWC or Lincoln Labs.
  • AWC and Lincoln Labs have separate web servers
dedicated to CDMnet that are isolated from their
    Internet servers.
  • A user will not be able to click on a link and
get routed to some other site on the Internet
  • That is, routing to the Internet will not be
    allowed through the DataGate.
  • While Java is not used on the DataGate, it might
be used on sites that the DataGate links to.
  • There are only links to trusted sources.
  • An airline could disable Java if it wished.
