Equipment Set-up
  • Install Software
  • Connect Receiver
  • Start an RF session
  • Wait for a channel to be found
  • Have students scan and join the class.

To reset your receiver, unplug the USB cable
and then the power-supply from the receiver.
Wait 10 seconds, then connect the power, followed
by the USB.

System Preferences
File and then Preferences allows you to change
or set PRS default file locations, font,
language, or suppress warning messages.

Getting Started
  • There are four steps to complete to create and
    administer assessments using PRS.
  • Connect and Set-up Your Class
  • Create Lesson Questions
  • Administer the Lesson (Session)
  • Grade and Save

The first time you use
1. Upon launching the software, PRS will search
for a class to connect to. If no class is found,
you will be asked to create one.
2. Fill out the Information and Default Settings
tab. If in an RF only environment You do not
need to create a response map.

To connect the clickers
  • Go to the RF menu and click on
  • Start Class.
  • The receiver will
  • begin to search for a
  • clear channel to use.

3. Once found, the students can turn on their
clickers, and join the class.

For Students to Connect
1. Turn on clicker to start scanning.
2. Wait for your class to show or use The quick
jump code. Press the send button to join class.
The first time students use this in class,
they will get a screen that prompts them to
enter their student ID.

Roster Generation
After the first class is over, go to the RF menu
and End Class. You will get two messages. Make
sure to click Yes when the prompt comes up to
save new students to roster. What is saved is a
record of the students clicker ID and their
student ID that was entered into the clicker.

Adding Names to Your Roster
If you have a small class, you can double
click in the roster to add names.
If you have spreadsheet from your institution
with the students names and ID numbers, you can
merge that file with your PRS file.
1. Select your class and then Import/Merge
Roster.
2. Select Merge and check Use Non-PRS Roster
Importer.

Adding Names to Your Roster
Browse to the file you wish to use then, delete
any fields you dont wish to import.
Match these fields to the corresponding PRS
fields and then click OK.

The next time you start PRS
PRS will search for a class. Select your
class and the defaults, and click OK. This will
start an RF class.

Question Types Supported
  • Multiple Choice Alpha (Single or Multiple
    Correct)

If using in a RF and IR environment keep in
mind that some of these question types are not
supported with the IR clickers.

Sessions
  • Sessions
  • allows your participants to answer the questions
    written in the lessons mode, paper tests, or
    other format.
  • allows the instructor to mark, review and create
    reports for the session

To start a session with questions written in
PPT, just launch into Slide Show Mode and you
will get a new session dialog box.

To Respond to Questions
1. Enter the answer and press send.
2. Once received you can answer other questions.
If your clicker has fallen asleep, press
any button to wake it up. Sleep settings can
be changed in the set-up menu on the clicker.

Short Answer Questions
Use these letter keys to and these scroll
buttons to type words.
In order for short answers to be marked
as correct, they must be spelled exactly the way
the correct answer was written.

Answering Questions in Self-Paced Mode
1. Instructor must specify that this is a
self-paced test when starting an RF class.
4. Once received, use the down arrow to scroll to
different questions.
2. Enter the test number and press send.
3. Enter your answer and press send.
Once the timer is stopped. The graph will
appear. You will be able to scroll through the
graphs for the different questions.

Gradebook
  • The Gradebook function allows you to add marked
    sessions to a grade book.
  • Grade book files save as a .csv file and can also
    be viewed in Excel.
  • Export gradebook to Data Desk, GradeQuick. Bb,
    WebCT, WebAssign, XML
  • You can also add non-PRS grades to the gradebook

Configure Your Gradebook
Appearance Display students grades By letter or

Information Name your grade book, and choose the
corresponding roster
Letter Grades Set parameters for letter grades,
or configure a curve.

Types of Gradebook Reports
  • Grades by Session This report gives the class
    average per session and each students mark for
    each session.
  • Grades by Student ID This report lists each
    student by their student ID and has their
    cumulative average as well as a breakdown of
    their grade by session.
  • Grades by Student Name This report lists each
    student by their name and has their cumulative
    average as well as a breakdown of their grade by
    session.
  • Also available in individual page format.

PRS Files
  • PRS files are saved in a special PRS folder in My
    Documents.
  • Most PRS files are .csv files and can be edited
    in Excel.
  • The lesson files are .xml files.
  • Reports can either be saved as .PDF, or as text
    file.
