2
Introduction
  • In the current technology era it is important to
keep on moving forward with the latest technology
otherwise it is impossible to compete in this
    industry.

3
What is Automation?
  • Is the automatic transfer of one unit of a
complex industrial assembly to a succession of
machines, each of which completes another stage
    in manufactures.

4
Why Automation?
  • Statistics show that mining companies who adopted
automation were able to cut manufacturing cost by
up 38, throughput time by up to 30, and waste/
    rework by up to 33.
  • As a result those companies will have the power
to control the global market by offering cheaper
commodities. To compete with them every company
    should adopt the same approach.

5
Telecommunication infrastructure
  • Tele operation of an LHD from surface and
combining it with guidance. These can achieved by
    a high bandwidth communication infrastructure,
which combines voice, data, and video over a
hardwired and radio system. This has the capacity
to support multiple machine tele operation.

6
Mining Automation Plan (MAP)
  • Delineation drill connected to the communication
infrastructure that links it to the ore body
model so that the data collected can be analyzed
as it is available. These data then used in
conjunction with CAD CAE to engineer the mine
layout (development process). The next step is to
send use the data for (production process) by
passing information to drill jumbo, explosive
loading, material handling and ground support.

7
Economic modeling
  • A study is carried out based on a hypothetical
ore body. Then a spreadsheet is used for
financial analysis such as cash flow, cost,
    maintenance, revenue and mine life.
  • After the study is done the most feasible mining
    is then used.

8
Conclusion
  • The benefits of automation is great in the mining
    industry. Improving productivity, reducing cost,
and increasing throughput are all essential for
mining companies to survive in the future.
