13The Ayrshire Model
- Promotes the systematic early identification of
concerns about a child by all agencies from
pre-birth onwards - Builds incrementally to ensure children
families receive the support and services they
require - Aims to facilitate completing different levels of
assessment and is designed to be used to provide
reports for a number of different purposes - Is a fully co-ordinated systematic approach to
the gathering, recording and evaluation of
information
14The Ayrshire Model cont.
- Is based on Health, Education and Social Work
services working together as partners with a
shared responsibility for children in their area - The basic principle of this approach is
1 Child
1 Assessment
1 Review process
1 Action Plan
15The Ayrshire IAF Model delivers
- an inter-agency approach to assessment
- more consistent standards of practice
- timescales to avoid drift and unnecessary delay
- the incorporation of research findings into
practice and the use of evidence based practice - transparent processes of analysis leading to
clear professional judgements and decision making - continuity between childrens services
16Why Change?
- The Assessment Framework will -
- reduce duplication of effort as information
gathered once will be shared - provide an applied model of integrated working
- streamline assessment processes for children,
families and agencies - provide a full picture of the involvement of the
professionals regardless of their agency - improve consistency of practice and the
consistency and quality of assessments for
children - provide easier and faster access to service
delivery - improve safety and outcomes
17Levels of Assessment
- Child Record
- Chronology of Significant Events
- Core Assessment
- Comprehensive Integrated Assessment
- Review of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment
