BULLETIN 086/SE/TC February 2002 FOR THE
ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE MANAGER 1M1 (Leon) / 1M2
(Toledo) Water ingress through doors
Cause We are aware of two problems with water
ingress from the doors of Leon / Toledo. 1. The
outer weather seal along the bottom of the doors
seals up the door drain holes. (fig.2) Water
cannot drain out and builds up inside the door,
potentially entering the vehicle interior via
the ancillaries carrier seal or speaker
aperture. 2. The ancillaries carrier should be
sufficiently water-resistant to prevent water
draining from the top of the door from entering
the vehicle. Unfortunately there may be a
problem with the original seals on the
ancillaries carrier (on Leon only), allowing
water to get through. (fig.1) Production Modific
ations in preparation. Service We recommend that
in any cases of water ingress through the doors,
both of the following modifications are carried
out. Any or all of the doors can be
affected. 1. Cut a small notch in the
weatherseal adjacent to each drainhole.
(fig.3) 2. Remove the ancillaries carrier from
the door. Remove the original seal and any
adhesive remaining around the carrier. (fig.4)
To avoid damage to the paint, use a plastic
wedge, or similar. Replace the seal with sealing
cord, part No. AKD 497 010 04R10. (fig.5)
Refit the carrier.
