WP1 PM9 release

• WP1 very focused on the WP1 PM9 release
• Functionalities foreseen for the WP1 PM9 release
  already presented to the applications in a
  bilateral WP1 WP8TWG meeting ( 1 month ago)
  and here in Oxford
• Discussions on status of implementation of the
  various WP1 PM9 components (and also a fruitful
  WP1 implementers hands on meeting)
• User Interface (UI)
• Resource Broker (RB)
• Job Submission Service (JSS)
• Information Index (II)
• Logging and Bookkeeping Services (LB)

WP1 PM9 components

• User Interface
• Command-line for job management operations (job
  submission, job removal, job status monitoring,
  etc)
• Job Description Language (JDL) used when the job
  is submitted, to specify its characteristics and
  requirements
• Condor ClassAds based
• Resource Broker (RB)
• Responsible to choose the best CEs where to
  submit jobs
• Matchmaking between requirements specified in the
  JDL expression and available resources (published
  in the MDS Replica Catalog)
• As optimization for the PM9 release jobs will
  be submitted close to data
• No data transfers will be triggered

• Wrapper of Condor-G for the PM9 release
• On top of Globus GRAM (to implement a reliable
  job submission service)
• Information Index
• Used by the RB as first filter in the resource
  discovery process
• GIIS with some customisations at PM9

• Short term (volatile) data about currently active
  jobs
• Job definition
• Job status and related info
• Logging
• Long term (persistent) info about jobs and
  workload management system
• Used for debugging and post-mortem analysis of
  job runs

• Prague-CESNET (PBS Condor, MDS 2.1 alpha)

Relations with the other WPs

• Relations with the other WPs identified, already
  presented to the other WPs, and discussed in
  some bilateral meetings before Oxford and here
• Some more discussions will be needed in the next
  future to better define some details
• MDS schema and information providers
• WP1 submitted its inputs on the MDS schema
  specification for the PM9 release
• Agreed with WP4 and WP5 (responsible to implement
  the correspondent information providers)
• Finalize the information transfer infrastructure
  to enable applications to access the SE contents
  via local filesystem calls at PM9
