LAW
GOSPEL
- Law of Moses
- or
- Gospel of Christ?
2The False Doctrine Stated
- Jesus lived and died under the Law of Moses,
therefore, His words do not apply today - The recorded words of Jesus (MMLJ) spoken before
the cross do not apply today (after the cross)
3The False Doctrine Stated
- This book presents the view that the vast
majority of the teaching of Jesus Christ in the
gospels is not New Covenant teaching at all. - Sam Dawson
- The Teaching of Jesus
- Introduction
4The False Doctrine Stated
- Jesus revealed no New Testament doctrine during
the thirty-three years of the Old Testament age
described in MMLJBC. - Dan Billingsly
- Letter to Dennis Ross
- Nov-Dec, 2004
5The False Doctrine Stated
- The things Jesus taught about the kingdom during
His ministry were not law. They were facts about
the coming kingdom. - James Johnson
- Bible Newsletter (p. 1, para. 2)
- Vol. 1, No. 1, Apr 1999
6The False Doctrine Stated
- The truths Jesus spoke about the kingdom,
however, do not constitute commands to be obeyed
by Christians. The commands Jesus gave during His
lifetime were the Law of Moses. - James Johnson
- Bible Newsletter (p. 2, para. 4)
- Vol. 1, No. 1, Apr 1999
7The False Doctrine Stated
- The things Jesus taught about the Law of Moses
during His earthly ministry do not regulate us
since they have passed away (Heb. 813). - James Johnson
- Bible Newsletter (p. 2, para. 3)
- Vol. 1, No. 1, Apr 1999
8The False Doctrine Stated
- Conclusion
- Today we are under none of the commands spoken by
Jesus! - Answer John 1334-35
- A new commandment I give to you
9Beware of False Prophets!
- Beware of false prophets, who come to you in
sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous
wolves. You will know them by their fruits. - Matthew 715-16
- Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you
with persuasive words.

21Why this Doctrine?
- An attempt to remove the binding authority of
what Jesus taught on divorce and remarriage - So that it does not apply to all people today
- So that people may remain in sinful remarriages
- So that marrying one who has been put away is
not adultery in spite of Matthew 531-32 - So that remarriage after putting away for a cause
other than fornication is not adultery in spite
of Matthew 199
22Divorce and Remarriage
- MOSES
- Put away for uncleanness (Deut. 241-4)
- Remarriage allowed
- Adulterers killed (Lev. 2010)
- JESUS
- Put away for cause of fornication (Matt. 199)
- One remarriage approved All other remarriage
adultery
Not the Same!
23Divorce and Remarriage
- JESUS
- let not man put asunder. (Matt.
196) - except for fornication and marries another
adultery. (199)
- PAUL
- wife is not to departhusband not to divorce
(1 Cor. 710-11) - Remain unmarried or be reconciled (1 Cor.
711 Rom. 72-3)
