Motivation
  • After many years of learning hardware and
software, do you know how they really working
together to become a functioning system?

3
????
  • Basic concepts of embedded systems and their
    HW/SW components
  • Development of HW/SW applications for embedded
    systems
  • Case designs and experiments

4
  • ????
  • Introduce and experiment with the architecture
    and system/application software for embedded
    systems

Weekly assignments
  • Preview questions
  • Ask one or two questions by previewing the
contents to be covered in the coming class of
    this week
  • Bad/good/excellent questions
  • BAD question careless reading, definition-like
  • What is a pipeline?
  • GOOD question know the key concepts covered, but
just dont know exactly their relationship?
  • Why does pipeline improve performance?
  • EXCELLENT question know the content well and is
    inspired to consider further development
  • An ideal n-stage pipeline provides n-times
speedup. How about the cost? Will the cost be
    n-times as well?
