Timed Resource Activities to stimulate Fluency
  • Timed Reading Plus in Literature
  • Do two to three days a week
  • 10 levels of books in total
  • Levels 1-10 (Book 1 is fourth grade reading
    level, Book 2 is fifth grade reading level, so
    on)
  • Determined by Fry Readability
  • 25 two part lessons (50 tests in total)
  • Passages are 400 words in length

  • Test A Focus on Silent Fluency Rate
  • Take 20 seconds to preview (lesson on previewing
    is in text on pages 2-3).
  • Read passage and note on the answer sheet the
    time it took to read (do not include the time to
    read or do the questions).
  • Use an internet timer program such as
    http//ideas.gstboces.org/program/timer/ .
  • Answer the 10 questions
  • 5 - Recalling Facts
  • 5 - Understanding the Passage
  • Write your answers on the answer sheet.
  • Check answers, review incorrect answers, record
    the score, and plot progress.

each question has 3 parts, so there are a
total of 15 questions. Count how many you had
correct on both Test A and Test B. Put an X in
the Lesson 1 column to indicate your number of
correct answers on tests A B. e.g., Test A

Place an X in any Lesson 1 column box if you
had an incorrect answer. This can help the
