Recommendations
  • Having a strong and active neighborhood
    association in the target area is critical to the
    success of the community based approach.
  • Establish a sub-initiative to train neighborhood
    leadership.
  • Ensure leadership transitions and succession
    planning.
  • Ongoing management of the program should occur at
    three levels. (Neighborhood, Project, Oversight
    Committee)

  • Hire a full time facilitator for the first year
  • Adopt an immediate posture of over communicating
  • Publicity and public comment should be staged as
    part of the kickoff event.
  • Encourage residents to ID underlying problems
    causal to the neighborhoods decline.
  • Use crime analysis and local intelligence to
    clearly identify the problems / issues and
    resources that exist in the area.
