• A battery serves as the energy source for many
  devices.
• As current carries energy to the light bulb, the
  battery discharges.

Energy Transformation

• A batterys chemical energy is transformed into
  other forms of energy (light and heat)
• When all the energy is converted, the battery is
  dead.

Recharging

• To recharge a battery, the chemical process must
  be reversed.
• Electrical energy must be transformed to chemical
  energy.

• Rechargeable batteries eventually must be
  replaced.
• Charging and recharging a battery releases gases
  and produces impurities that prevent it from
  working.
