HF STANAG Status
  • 4415 Robust WF Promulgated Multiple
    implementations
  • 4444 EPM Promulgated German prototype
  • 4538 ARCS Promulgated US-UK-NL-NO air
    trials chairman stunning results

12
HF STANAG Status (contd)
  • 4539 Waveforms only 4 nations ratified, so not
    yet promulgated. multiple implementations
  • 5066 Datacomms Promulgated multiple
    implementations
  • Planned edition 2 mandatory email
    protocol compliance w/4406 messaging
  • Possible edition 3 LAN/WAN operations

NC3Board(AC/322D/20)
  • By developing a modern, adaptive, and flexible
HF system, much of NATOs messaging, data, data
link, facsimile and voice requirements could be
met within the HF band. This will reduce the
demand for scarce SATCOM resources to those
    requirements that genuinely need large
    bandwidths.

14
Power-Line Data Communications
  • Emerging home networking/broadband access
    technology in Europe
  • Operates in HF band may raise noise floor
  • Netherlands commencing tests of power-line
    communications interference with HF
  • Doesnt appear economically feasible in North
    American power distribution system

15
Other Projects
  • Ground Routing Protocol ACP 193
  • Initial work on video/image transfer over HF
  • Wideband data comms
  • ISB modems as in MIL-STD-188-110B App F
  • Adaptive use of non-contiguous channel groups
