The new Planning System

• Legislation became effective in September 2004
  Changes to the new system June 2008 with
  amended Regulations and new policy statement
  (PPS12 Local Spatial Planning)
• Regional Spatial Strategy replaced Regional
  Planning Guidance Local Development Frameworks
  will replace both Local Plans and Structure Plans
  
• Streamlined LDFs introduced with new requirements
  for the evidence base and implementation /
  delivery
• Stafford Boroughs Local Development Framework

  every 5 years (160 ha in total) gt possible
  increase
• January 2008 Government intervention requiring
  investigation of higher Regional housing
  provision. Report published on 7th October 2008
  providing growth options for RSS Examination in
  Spring 2009

  Minister with requirement to prepare a Programme
  of Development
• End October 2008 Deadline to submit a
  Programme of Development with projects and
  funding listed
• Local Delivery Vehicle to be established through
  Stafford Borough Council and Staffordshire County
  arrangements
