Donated Grains of Rice Final Number

So what does that mean?

• Once again, we shattered our lofty goal of
  5,000,000 grains and 520 meals.
• In fact, we donated almost 1 1/2 times more rice
  and meals than this years goal and almost two
  times more than last years total of 4,018,180!

So what does that mean?

• Using the computation from the freerice.com
  website, it takes 9600 grains of rice to make a
  meal. This means that in the month of December,
  Maine South donated enough rice to provide
• 779 meals
• to hungry people throughout the world.
• Another way to think of our total is that our
  donations will be feeding 13 people for a month.

So what does that mean?

• Not only did the Maine South English Department
  do something to better the world, students also
  practiced and hopefully improved their vocabulary
  skills (among other subject areas) in a fun and
  engaging way. Our rice donation also translates
  in to

• CORRECT ANSWERS by Maine South students to
  vocabulary questions (as well as other subject
  areas) in the game.
