Action Items from June Meeting

• Action Total membership issue (people had paid
  but not received membership in 2007). Colin sent
  note and pro-forma proof to SPE (B Wiggins).
  Awaiting Reply
• Action Board members to find volunteers to serve
  on Student Paper selection committee. Alexandra
  to send email to board providing details and
  requesting judges. Closed.
• 2 student papers selected. 1000 award to be
  issued. Cash? Tim and Colin to address. Open
• Action Esso to nominate a rep for Talent
  Council. Discussed with Esso HR and technical
  organization, but unable to find volunteer. Edson
  will discuss with Country Manager. Open.
• Action Massoxi to contact students on process
  for payment of student membership. Open. Chevron
  are the 2008 sponsor
• Action Chevron, Esso and Sonangol to arrange
  payment for the continuing education courses
  Open. SNL PP have had invoices resubmitted to
  them. Abel to advise. Obtain electronic copy of

Bulk Pay SPE Dues

• 25 August - Respond to SPE that your section will
  participate in our bulk payment program. Luisa
  but Need to ask if we can have separate invoices
  per company
• 28 August - We will send you an excel file with a
  list of current section members that the SPE
  database has tied to your section for review.
  This will be a good chance to review and update
  also
• 1 September - Complete your review of the
  provided section member file and return to us
  indicating those members who wish to participate.
  
• 5 September - A single invoice is generated and
  provided to you with the list of section members
  to be paid along with detailed payment
  instructions.
• 9 September - SPE informs all members that their
  2009 invoice is available online. To alleviate
  the possibility of overpayment, we ask that you
  alert your section members of your participation
  in the bulk payment program.
• 31 December - Bulk payment must be received by
  SPE to avoid any interruption in services.

Continuing Education

• Outstanding payments Esso, Sonangol, Chevron?
• Only outstanding payment maybe SNL but need to
  contact SPE for update of account and confirm if
  payment received (Terry)

SPE Angola Graduate Award

• Aim Recognizing the need to encourage and reward
  the next generation of Angolan oil and gas
  professionals the Angola Section established the
  SPE Angola Graduate Award. We wish to reward
  projects which best reflect hard work, enthusiasm
  and scientific excellence.
• The closing date was March 30th. The universities
  (ANU ES dept and PEP, Jean Piaget) forwarded
  the 5 highest marked projects to the SPE on April
  15th
• Projects involved fall into one of the four
  following categories
• Geosciences, Geophysics and Formation Evaluation
• Reservoir and Petroleum Engineering
• Drilling, Production Engineering and Refining
• Oil and Gas New Technology
• Winner for Petroleum Engineering Antonio
  NSingi
• Winner for Geoscience was Benedito Kassoma
• Prize 1000 ea.

Talent Council Colloquium Update

• Workshop 24th September
• Colloquium Nov 13/14th
• Pending Re-establish connection with MINPet,
  SNL, MoEd and Secretary of Higher Ed
• Scot and Simon Drysdale preparing a workplan
  proposal to provide to the ATC
• Amindo to provide update to SPE on ATC forward
  agenda and timings
