Eastern woodland Indians

• This is mainly on the Shawnee Indians. Shawnee
  comes from the word shawanwa witch means, people
  of the south
• The pictures you see are not 100 Shawnee items.

Homes
This is what a single Shawnee family house might
look like. This isnt a lodge. Witch is what they
usually live in.

Homes info

• There homes were long and rectangular in the
  summer. They were domed shaped at the top to help
  keep it warm in the winter. These arent exactly
  what they would like.

Their Environment
This is a picture of what their environment may
have looked like. They mainly lived in the
forest. They relied on their environment to build
their homes and for food. Their climate is very
similar to ours. They could have harsh and hot
summers, and extremely cold and gust winters.

Clothing

• The men wore deerskin tops and leggings.
• The women wore deerskin tops and skirts.
• These are what their clothing may have looked
  like.

Food

• To get food they farmed and hunted.
• Farm The women mainly planted corn, squash,
  beans, and sweet potatoes. They also gathered
  nuts and berries. The women made maple sugar from
  tree sap.
• Hunting- Men mainly hunted deer and buffalo. They
  also fished and set traps for rabbits, foxes, and
  other small animals.
