13Semesterisation and Modularisation
- Each module lasts for one semester
- Examinations take place at the end of the module
(in either January semester 1 or May semester
2) - Continuous assessment takes place throughout the
module
14Assessment and Examinations
- Your final module mark is found by combining the
mark for the continuous assessment (including
labs) and the examination - You should find out the weights for each of these
- If you do not pass your module, you can repeat
the examination in the supplemental sitting in
August / September.
15Assessment and Examinations
- You pass a module when
- You pass the examination
- You achieve the pass mark when the examination
mark and the continuous assessment mark are
combined - If you do not pass the module in either sitting
- You repeat the module the following year
16Class Mentoring and Management
- All classes have a mentor
- This is a lecturer who is responsible for your
class - If you have any problems, you should talk to them
this is their job! - All programmes have a chairperson
- This is a lecturer who is responsible for the
entire programme - All classes elect a class representative
- This is a student who attends student union
meetings
17Enjoying yourself
- The best way to enjoy yourself is to pass all
your modules - The best way to pass all your modules is to
attend all your classes and do all your
coursework - After that, there are canteen, snackery, gym,
swimming pool and socialising facilities and
activities in and around DIT Kevin St.
