Mission

• KEEP A CHILD ALIVE is an urgent response to the
  AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa.
• With 25 million already dead, the disease
  continues to wipe out whole societies, threaten
  economic infrastructure and devastate the family
  structure.
• As a 501(c)3 non-profit, KCA offers supporters
  the unique opportunity to provide lifesaving
  antiretroviral (ARV) medicine and support
  services directly to children and families living
  with HIV/AIDS in Africa.

KCA Prioritizes

• TREATMENT Anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment has
  proven to bring HIV patients from sickness to
  health. But less than 10 of children with AIDS
  have access to these life-saving drugs. When you
  sign up to become a monthly, or "Life" donor,
  100 of your monthly donation goes directly to
  life-saving AIDS drugs and surrounding care.
• CARE Treatment is only effective alongside
  medical care. KCA ensures all patients have
  access to quality doctors, nutrition, testing,
  transportation, and treatment for opportunistic
  infections.
• ORPHANS Currently 15 million children have lost
  one or both parents to AIDS. These children face
  enormous risks in their struggle to stay alive.
  Keep a Child Alive builds and sustains orphanages
  to keep the most vulnerable children out of
  harm's way. Orphanages are a last resort, but
  necessary when children have no extended family
  to turn to for support.

The AIDS Pandemic

• Antiretroviral therapy (ART) stops HIV from
  destroying the bodys immune system. ART has
  already dramatically cut AIDS-related deaths in
  the Western world where it is readily available.
  
• The price of ART continues to drop as generic
  drugs become more available. Lifesaving
  treatment is now available for less than 1 a
  day!
• Yet over 6,500 people still perish every day
  from HIV/AIDS! Over 7 million people are in
  immediate need of life-saving AIDS drugs, and of
  these, only 28 are receiving them!
• By now, AIDS has created over 15 million
  orphans. Millions of children need attention,
  care, and treatment, and they need it now.

When I think that AIDS has been around my entire
life, a mix of sadness, compassion and anger
overcomes me. While the statistics on AIDS are
staggering, especially in Africa, we cannot allow
their magnitude to immobilize us into inactivity.
Rather, we must harness our sadness and anger
into action! We must come together as one -
individuals, governments, corporations,
philanthropists and artists - and fight for the
rights of children and families suffering
unnecessarily from this dreadful
