• What is a veteran?
• A veteran is defined by federal law, moral code
  and military service as Any person who served
  for Any length of time in Any military service
  branch.

• What is a War Veteran?
• A war veteran is any military person ordered to
  foreign soil or waters to participate in direct
  or support activity against an enemy. The operant
  condition Any GI sent in harm's way.

• Goes back to 1919, when it was referred to as
  Armistice Day,
• the one-year anniversary of the end of World
  War I.
• In 1938, Armistice Day became a legal Federal
  holiday.
• President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name
  of
• Armistice Day to Veterans Day on June 1, 1954
• In 1975, Congress formally changed the Federal
  observation
• of Veterans Day to November 11, and it would
  take effect in
• 1978.
