Title: QCD Trigger Report

1
QCD Trigger Report
  • Charge
  • Plans for future and which triggers should never
    be prescaled?
  • Which triggers are currently used purity and
    trigger
  • studies done for these?
  • Any triggers that are only for studies that can
    be done
  • in special runs?
  • Should there be a trigger list release structure?
  • (probably)

2
QCD Jet Triggers
  • L1 demand N towers have at least a given ET
  • Multi-tower requirement favors two jet events
bias from limited L1 coverage (A.Kupco)
  • L2 require one jet of given ET
  • (studies to implement this are in progress)
    (J. Krane)
  • L3 require one jet of given ET
  • Very similar to RECO ET except merge/split,
    vertex position (G. Davis)

L1 two jets in trigger region
With ? coverage to 2.4, one jet sample is only
3-4 less efficient during turn-on.

L3 Efficiency and Cuts

    study each specific threshold

QCD 8.2/9.0 Triggers
In Trigger list 8.2 the QCD group will be using
the following triggers for inclusive jet cross
section, dijet mass, and other QCD analyses
(Analysis contact person Sasha Kupco). JT_45TT
CJT(2,5) low JT_65TT CJT(3,5) low JT_95TT
CJT(4,5) ultra Note at 40E30 34/34/0.23
(Needs L2 soon) JT_125TT CJT(4,7) ultra Note
at 40E30 8/8/.05 (100 overlap with
JT_95TT) Efficiency studies done for these
triggers The following triggers are for
diffractive jet production, double pomeron
exchange and FPD commissioning (Analysis contact
person Michael Strang). JT_25TT_NG
low zero_bias_GapN 0.05 Hz JT_25TT_GapN
low zero_bias_GapS 0.05 Hz JT_25TT_GapS
low zero_bias_GapSN 0.05 Hz JT_25TT_GapSN
medium Studies in progress

QCD 8.2 Temporary Triggers
This trigger was inserted for L2 studies and we
would jettison it in a Trigger V9 (ideally after
incorporating L2 into main triggers) JT_45TT_L2
These triggers were inserted for vertex studies
and would be jettisoned in Trigger V9 (ideally
after incorporating vertex into
main triggers) JT_50TT_JT_65PV JT_70TT_JT_95PV JT
_95TT_JT_125PV

QCD Future Plans
Short term Incorporate L2 and vertex
information (sharper turn-on at L3) should allow
JET_95TT to remain unprescaled indefinitely Medi
um term Add back low ET ref set and increase
coverage to ? lt 3.2, start adding proton
triggers, dedicated photon triggers Long term
Change to large tiles (less biased, lower rates
into L2), add more proton triggers
