• The female butterfly lays its eggs on the leaf
  or the stem.

Larva (caterpillar)

• Each egg hatches into a larva. It is called a
  caterpillar. It has a huge appetite.

Pupa

• When fully grown the larva stops eating. It
  changes into a butterfly.

Adult

• When the case finally breaks open, a beautiful
  butterfly comes out of it. The butterfly
  spreads its wing to dry. Then it takes off on
  its first flight.
