- THE NTC PROGRAM IS A DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY WITH
TWO FOCUSES FOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT - Individual Player Development through the use of
the NTC Program. - Development of Youth Teams and Youth Team Players
3The National Training Centre Program LONG TERM
GOALS
- To establish a process by which we produce
stability and continuity in the development of
International Players. - To provide a formative, structured path along
which young players can move from an introduction
to International Soccer at the age of 14 to
International maturity between the ages of 18 and
20. - To produce International Players who are
comfortable with and understand what is required
of them to perform successfully at the highest
level.
4The National Training Centre Program MOTIVATION
- The NTC Program must have a Foundation for
Motivation that delivers the following message
to players and staff - The ability to accomplish something in order to
achieve results. - To be acknowledged.
- To participate and show creativity.
- To take responsibility.
- To grow and develop.
- To achieve a better understanding through gaining
knowledge and insight. - To accept challenges.
- To have the ability to master success.
- To achieve satisfaction.
- All of this will be different from player to
player and it takes time to develop.
5The National Training Centre Program OBJECTIVES
- To identify needs of players based on
International activities, while considering the
following - Technical and Tactical aspects.
- Psychological and physiological aspects.
- Intellectual and Social aspects.
- To reach a high level of consistency in the
delivery, monitoring and development of the above
factors. - To Develop methods of evaluation, monitoring and
development that will aid in the scouting and
selection procedures. This will be achieved
through regular National Scouting Weekends and
scouting within each of the Centres. - To establish a database of the players and to
educate the players to understand what is
expected of them. - To create a regular high level of competition for
the players. - To identify and select a Technical Staff that
will carry-out selection, monitoring and
development of the players within the Centres and
at the National level. - To identify a group of Technical Support Staff.
This staff will cover - Diet, Psychological, Physiological, Medical and
video aspects

- Learning to live with each other over a period of
time. - Learning to train twice a day.
- Learning how to execute soccer specific tasks on
and off the field. - Learning how to rest, eat and hydrate properly.
- Learning how to compete in game situations
- Learning how to self analyze and deal with game
plans.

OBJECTIVES
- Team preparation (Unity, shape and game plans)
- High level of intense and focused training
sessions in preparation for games. - Tactical development.
- Requirements for a National Team player.
- Proper rest, food and fluids.
- Play International quality games.

- 1988 being considered by NTC are retained

- Players will attend all training sessions and
work hard to improve - Players must play at highest level, even if this
means playing up an age group - Clubs and club coaches will facilitate this
process - RTC training will get priority over club training
- Staff coaches will be dedicated, professional,
and proficient at following the developmental
goals of the National Team Program
24NTC Prairies (Edmonton)
- Expectations
- Players will attend five scouting weekends in
Edmonton between September and April each year - Players must play at highest level, even if this
means playing up an age group - Clubs and club coaches will facilitate this
process - NTC training will get priority over club training
- Clubs and Club coaches will release players for
NTC weekends and National Team camps as required.
25NTC Prairies (Edmonton)
- Selection Process
- Sean Fleming, NTC Prairies Director visits
Saskatchewan to observe players at least twice
per year - Players are scouted at National All Star
Competition, and National Club Competition - Only Sean Fleming can select players to be
promoted from RTC to NTC status - Scouting weekends are attended by a National Team
coach
