What is Firewire/1394

• High speed serial communications interface
  (currently 400 Mb/s, up to 2Gb/s planned)
• Single cable carries signal and power
• Becoming a standard in PCs for high speed
  interfaces (DV cameras, disk drives, network
  interfaces)

• Design and prototype a miniature camera with 1394
  interface
• Camera for use on mobile robots
• Camera for use on miniature pan-tilt actuator
