• The way a molecule interacts with another
  molecule depends on the polarity of the molecules

Polar Molecules

• The definition of a polar molecules is that one
  side of the molecule is slightly positive and the
  other side of the molecule is slightly negative.
• -Unequal sharing of electrons
• -there is a difference in electronegativity
• -non-symmetrical molecules

Non-Polar Molecules

• Equal sharing of electrons
• No significant difference in electronegativity
• Symmetrical molecules

To determine polarity

• Draw Lewis Dot think VSEPR (shape)
• Determine symmetry
• Non-polar- if molecule is symmetrical by 2 ways

• Polar- molecule is not symmetrical by 2 ways
• Draw arrows toward the more electronegative atom
• Distribute partial charges
