Type of Training offered
  • The type of training offered is linked to
    industry
  • The Sector Skill Council links Awarding Bodies
    Qualifications directly to Employers
  • Therefore employers are aware and develop
    qualification schemes linked to their industry

Design of Training
  • Training is designed around giving Women
    employability skills required by the Construction
    Industry
  • Training programmes in the construction trades
    are designed to train people to become either
    trade level workers, supervisors and/or
    management

Diverse Training
  • Single sex courses are delivered within the
    community where individual needs are met
  • Many of our women however prefer to be in mixed
    groups and abilities proving their skills along
    side their male counter parts

Present at conel
  • At present 5 of our students in construction are
    women
  • This is 2 above the National employment average
  • Over the past 2 years 95 Women have been
    successful in Achieving qualifications in
    Construction Trades at CoNEL

Aim
  • Future aims and plans at conel are to increase
    the number of women into construction by a
    further 10.
  • This can be achieved with the support from
    industry (employers forum) and the conel
    philosophy and ethos of every student having an
    equal opportunity to achieve

Employability
  • Employers are more aware and supportive for Women
    to work in the Construction Industry, and are
    actively seeking to recruit more Woman onto their
    workforce.
