Base Design

• To reduce manufacturing cost for the base, an
  extrusion was used

Connector bracket design

• Machined from Al sheet and then bent into
  appropriate shape instead of machining from a
  block
• - save in material and manufacturing cost

Emergency End Stops

• Chose elastomer bumpers and eliminated end stop
  housing
• - design incorporates end stop connection into
  end cap
• - 5 times longer life expectancy than coiled
  steel
• - better aesthetic appeal

Carriage design

• Reduced material size while maintaining mounting
  holes according to Aerotechs specifications
• - Features to support additional connecting
  components
• Alignment lip for bearings
• Wire holes on side and top
• Mounting holes for encoder holder

Encoder holder

• Due to the reduction in material of the carriage
  an additional component was required to mount the
  encoder
• - Holder maintains the required distance
  from the encoder strip and allows for minimal
  distance changes/repairs by technician

End cap design

• Because an extrusion was used, additional end
  caps must be machined
• Features
• 90 machining set-up was not an option
• End stop holes end stop connects into cap
  with 1 fastener
• Top mounting holes connect end cap firmly
  to base
• Dowel pins are press fit from the bottom of
  the base into the end cap to stabilize the bottom
