Purpose of Study

• This study ascertains why contextual information
  is important to actualize the idea of semantic
  web, based on a semantic network analysis of
  online journalistic texts.
• Specifically, it investigates whether there is
  the differences among the semantic structures of
  online texts containing different contextual
  information.

• Current political issue in South Korea
• It generated controversy which leads social
  discussions.
• There are different opinions and information on
  the web.

• Data 62 blogs 101 online news (English)
• Google news and blog search engine
• Combined search words
• Korea, Media, law, bill, reform, revision,
  regulation
• Time period June 1st August 31st
• Research tools

Discussion

• The semantic networks between blogs and
  newspapers are different.
• The semantic networks between progressive
  newspaper and conservative newspapers are
  different.
• The number of common words is smaller than the
  number of others.
• Neglect of diverse contextual information on the
  web will cause a great loss of useful
  information.
