  • Article I deals with congress
  • The Constitution established a Bi-Cameral
    congress. 2 houses
  • -upper house Senate
  • -lower house House of Representatives.

I. Terms of congress
  • A. Each term lasts 2 years. The first term was
    in 1789, March 4.
  • B. Within each term there are 2 sessions. Each
    session is one year long.
  • C. We are currently in the 108th congressional
    term.

Sine Die
  • D. Sine Die latin term meaning that neither
    house may adjourn without the consent of the
    other house.

II. House of Representatives
  • A. Size
  • 1. 435 members, this number is set by congress
  • 2. Largest of the 2 houses
  • 3. Its members are elected at Large, or by
    districts within the state.

    or seat in congress.
