District Support for BTSA/Induction
  • Your district provides a Support Provider,
release time to observe veteran teachers,
district analysis and monitoring of credentials,
and many other services to ensure your success in
    the classroom.
  • Districts are required by law to contribute at
least 2,000 per teacher per year, in addition to
state BTSA funding. Most districts spend much
more to support their new teachers!

    Induction?
  • State funding is restricted to the first two
years as teacher of record on a preliminary
    credential. Teachers who delay starting
BTSA/Induction will be responsible for the cost
of the program when they are no longer eligible
for state funding. The cost of BTSA/Induction is
    currently 6,069 per year.

15
FAQs
  • Ive been teaching for several years. Why do I
    have to do all this?
  • The state designed Induction to accomplish two
    objectives
  • Induct new teachers into our profession
  • Provide a way for new teachers to demonstrate
their competence before being issued a clear
    credential

16
FAQs
  • My preservice program prepared me well for the
demands of the classroom. Why do I need to repeat
    what Ive already learned?
  • Preservice preparation provides the foundation
and theoretical framework for effective teaching.
Induction provides the opportunity to deepen
understanding and apply it in everyday practice.

17

working with adult learners. If your combined
