5The Practical Matters
- Students must have at least 6 courses per
semester - If a student wishes to take 7 classes, s/he must
complete a 7th Course Request Form. There is a
250 fee for dropping a 7th class after the first
week of school. - Students must meet the requirements stated in the
Curriculum Guide to move to the Honors or
Advanced Placement level. - Students need to take course selections
seriously. It is very difficult to change a
schedule after the registration period!

- Track 3 College Prep (Math Science)
- Track 1 College Prep with support
- Support is delivered through smaller class
sizes and may include a supervised study period.
7 Important AP information
- Students are required to take the AP exam in
their AP course(s). - Students are strongly recommended not to take
more than 3 AP courses within a school year. - Colleges/universities are aware of LAs AP
policy.

9Whats an elective?
- Any course that either goes beyond the graduation
requirement or a course that is not a
departmental graduation requirement - For example
- Film Studies and Computer Science are electives
outside of the department requirement - A 3rd or 4th year of a foreign language, social
studies, or science also counts as an elective,
as does a 4th year of math

- Earn elective credit
- Additional fee of 270 per course
- Must be taken as a 7th course

- Course times are 800 a.m.-1210 p.m. ( Mon.-
Fri.) - Please note different times for Hnrs. Chem and
Anatomy - There will be 4 days when science classes will
meet from 800 a.m.-245 p.m. for field trips. - Attendance Policy is strict. Full credit
students may only miss 12 hours half credit
students may miss 6 hours late minutes count
against the total. - One weeks worth of curriculum is presented each
day. A full course is completed in only 6 weeks.
- Cost for summer school is 1250 for full credit,
625 for half-credit
