Aim of the study

• Is screw or K-wire fixation better?
• Review of operative treatment of lateral condyle
  fractures in children from 1990-2005

Materials and methods

• Retrospective review of case notes over a 15 year
  period.
• 77 cases
• 36 radiographs available
• Mean age 5.3 years
• 49 boys, 28 girls
• Side left 50, right 27
• Excluded from the study-
• complex LCM injuries(associated
  injuries)

Conclusions

• No significant difference in the final outcome
• Screw necessitates another surgical procedure for
  removal (all GA in our series)
• K-wires removed in a Clinic but 10 pin site
  infection noted in this series.
