• Air mass weather stays the same for days
• An air mass is often 1000 miles across
• The boundary between air masses is called a front
• There are 4 types of fronts
• Warm, cold, stationary occluded

Warm Front

• Warm air moves into an area filled with cold air
• Cirrus, cirrostratus, altostratus, stratus clouds
• Light rain for a long time

• Cold air moves into an area filled with warm air
• Cumulonimbus clouds heavy rain for a short time

Occluded Front

• Cold air moves into an area with warm air moving
  over cool air a cold front overtakes a warm
  front.
• Heavy rain at first, then light rain complex
  weather

• Two factors that create severe weather at cold
  fronts
• Cold fronts move faster than warm fronts
• Cold fronts are steeper force air upwards
  (vertical development)
• Stationary fronts air is moving parallel to the
  front
