Our Vision

• To celebrate the historic importance of Baileys
  Cross Roads
• To inform todays residents of this event and
  help them appreciate Baileys Cross Roads role
  in forging our democracy
• To include Union and Confederate, both military
  and civilian, re-enactors in the commemoration as
  a demonstration of national unity

Alliance objectives

• To re-enact the Grand Review during its 150th
  Anniversary in November of 2011 and establish
  future re-enactments every five years
• To erect a sculpture of President Lincoln and
  other notables who stood with him at the Grand
  Review at Baileys Cross Roads
• To place historic markers along Route 7 between
  Old Town Alexandria and Tysons Corner and develop
  related educational materials

• Employ Lincoln's legacy to inspire a concept of
  what it means to be an American
• Foster increased historical education and promote
  educational activities

• 70,000 Union troops marched at Baileys
  Crossroads
• Lincoln, McClellan and Cabinet members reviewed
  the soldiers
• 30,000 citizens from Washington cheered from the
  sidelines

Immediate Tasks

• Establish an Advisory Board composed of
  historians, government representatives, and
  interested citizens
• Contact all stakeholders, i.e., civic/ business/
  homeowners/ military, associations, chambers of
  commerce, schools, colleges, womens clubs,
  libraries, descendants, etc.
• Publicize its mission to solicit the involvement
  of established re-enactment organizations to
  ensure strong participation in 2011
• Raise funds to undertake the work of the Alliance
