Bronchitis

• Inflammation of the large airways (trachea and
  bronchi)
• Frequently Associated with a URI
• Viral agents primary cause

Signs Symptoms

• Dry, hacky cough
• Nonproductive
• Worsens at night
• Cough becomes productive in 2-3 days

Treatment

• Symptomatic
• Analgesics
• Antipyretics
• Humidity
• Cough suppressants
• Allow rest
• May interfere with clearance of secretions
• Most recover 5-10 days

Bronchiolitis

• Acute viral infection
• Rare in children gt 2 years
• RSV 80

Treatment

• Symptomatic
• High humidity
• Adequate fluid intake
• Oxygen
